Verse of the Day

A verse from an earlier day, with its reflection and prayer.

Humble yourselves

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

Today's insight

It is easy to spend your day trying to prove your worth to the people around you. Yet this verse calls you to quiet that striving and "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord." True lifting up does not come from your own efforts to climb higher, but from God's gentle hand when you bow before Him.

Reflect

Where in your life today are you trying to elevate yourself, instead of trusting the Lord to lift you up?

Prayer

Lord, I bring my pride and my striving before You today. Teach me to walk with a low and honest heart in Your sight. I put my trust in You, knowing that You will lift me up in Your time. Amen.
