About this journey

A journey is a short, themed path through Scripture, one day at a time: a passage to read, a short reflection, a question to journal on and a prayer.

Start at day 1 and go at your own pace — your progress and private journal are saved on this device and synced if you sign in. A “Beta” tag means a pastor has not reviewed the journey yet.

Christmas: God With Us

The waiting is over: God has come near. Through the Christmas season, linger with the Word made flesh, the shepherds, Simeon and the wise men, and let the wonder of Immanuel sink deep. Joy at Christmas is more than a feeling — it is the good news that God is with us.

The days

  1. Day 1: In the beginning was the WordJohn 1:1-5Before Bethlehem, the Word already was — with God and was God, the source of all life and a light that darkness cannot overcome.
  2. Day 2: The Word became fleshJohn 1:9-14The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; all who receive him are given the right to become children of God.
  3. Day 3: Treasuring these thingsLuke 2:15-20The shepherds hurry to see, then tell everyone, while Mary quietly treasures all these things in her heart — two responses to the wonder of Christmas.
  4. Day 4: Mine eyes have seenLuke 2:25-32Old Simeon, who waited his whole life, takes the child in his arms and praises God for the salvation and light he has seen — for Israel and for all nations.
  5. Day 5: We have seen his starMatthew 2:1-6Wise men from the east travel far to worship the newborn King, while those close to Jerusalem's power are troubled — Jesus draws seekers from every nation.
  6. Day 6: Gifts for the KingMatthew 2:9-12The wise men rejoice with exceeding great joy, fall down in worship and open their treasures — worship that costs something and is given gladly.
  7. Day 7: The grace that appearedTitus 2:11-14The grace of God that appeared in Christ brings salvation to all and trains us to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives while we wait for his return.
